4 Tips To Moving And Storing Your Technology

KEEP YOUR ELECTRONIC ITEMS SAFE WHEN MOVING OR STORING

The amount of tech products in people’s homes has increased dramatically over the last decade. So we’ve gathered 4 tips to moving and storing your technology. When it comes to moving or downsizing, Callbox Storage is here to help with it all, from packing up your technology, delivering it to our storage facility, and returning it when requested. In the mean time, here are a few things to remember about safely packing and transferring your computers, TVs, and other important electronics.

  1. FIND THE RIGHT BOX

When packing up your computer or TV it’s best if you still have the original box it came in. If not, you can contact the original company to send you a return product box that will generally fit your item. If neither of those are options, try finding an appropriate size box at your local home improvement store. The most important thing to remember is that the box should snugly fit your TV or computer. You don’t want it rattling around on the move.

  1. CABLE MANAGEMENT

If you’re like most people, the back of your TV and computer area is a jungle of cables and connections. If you’re not familiar with how everything is connected or plugged in, take photos for future reference to help make unpacking easier. Also, try to keep the cords with the tech it came with. Keep your computer connections in one bag, TV and audio in another. Be sure to label the bag/boxes where you pack the cords, you don’t want to play the guessing game when it’s time to unpack and reconnect.

  1. PACKING THE TV

Once you have the appropriate size box begin by securely taping the bottom of the box, then add foam peanuts or another type of padding to the bottom to cushion the TV. Wrap the TV in bubble wrap or a light soft blanket. This will help protect the screen. Slide the TV vertically into the box and tape shut. Remember to keep the TV vertical at all times. Finally, fill any open spaces in the box with small blankets or clothes you don’t mind using to help stabilize the TV and keep it safe.

  1. EMPTY THE INSIDES

One last thing to remember, be sure to remove all batteries and discs from remotes and DVD/gaming systems. Game and movie discs can be damaged in transport or damage the equipment they’re in. Batteries left in remotes can overheat, corrode, and render your remotes useless, so be sure everything is taken out of equipment before the big move.
